"Het Solse gat" has quite some history.
It is located in one of the most ancient forests in Holland,
the speulderforest and it is said it excists since the ice age.
According to the urban legend, there was once an evil monestary, ages ago, built by monks who sold their soul to the devil.
At night all the witches and ghosts would come to join
the monks and their evil ceremony.
This lasted till one stormy christmas eve when there was a big bang to be heard and when the people from the town went to take a look in the forest, it was swallowed by the earth.
Since then, there is a pond where once the monestary was located and at midnight there are still sounds from the bells of the old monestary to be heard and shadows of the monks are to be seen around the pond.

When I was there to photograph the area, there was no one around and the only sound I could hear were the drop of dew falling from the leaves on my shoulder.
The thick fog gave the scenery a wonderful atmosphere.

Excellent tonal job in this picture Jeroen...
Reminds me of Copper Gravure...
I like the "Da Vinci feel" from Mona Lisa...
Mona is missing here...
but there is two different horizons left and right...
Hills in Holland...?! another wonder...!
Greetings from Denmark...Jakob.
The right is more elevated than the left.
Thanks a lot for commenting Jakob!
Take care,
Jeroen
